Sacred or Mundane? a

your consideration - A Yonilingam, right, and a Supermarket

the simile - to demonstrate that, indeed, popular cultural
continually extrudes the mythic!

"information" is driven by Mammon, not by its inherent Truth.
Worse still,
"religious information" is wrapped in shiny paper and ribbons called
"salvation" and "eternal life". These 'sacred' trappings and
their resulting obfuscation are created by doubtful humans beings in
their rush for wealth and control against their soon demise.
Opposed to this spin of human spectacle, there
is an interesting antidote which is apparently outside the control of
man or Mammon. This vast
corrective
storehouse quietly
bubbles up throughout the ages and cultures- in fact - inspite of
linear
time
or peoples. A storehouse which
expresses itself in unnumbered, spontaneously generated, seemingly
parallel and analogous images, dreams and myths. Such
motifs occur both in popular culture, its folklore and artifacts as
well as within
so-called sacred ritual and formalized religions. The minds of
mankind are blindered to
this preventive prescription.
The good Frater Holme's raison d’être is to physically demonstrate (theorem) that "sacred" symbols perculate into [and out of] mundane and profane everyday objects; that such phenomena / relationships refute both Protestantism' literalism [univocation, i.e., my way or the highway] AND Catholic scholasticism; "both which are exterminators of symbolism" [Brown, Love's Body, 1966, pg 199]; that there is no escape from the overwhelming superiority of symbolism mediating within the human psyche - "put down your weapons [words, idols and other third party meditations] and step away from your [expensive] vehicle!" "For the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life." 2 Cor 3.6 No one asks the obvious- "why, the annual Christmas Tree?" or "why, the ubiquitous church steeple and bells"; "why, the Holly Wreath on the door?" or "why, the horseshoe or cow's skull over the door or gate?"; "why does the business man wear a tie, his wife carries a purse, but he carries no purse and she wears no cravat?" Yet the obvious quietly surrounds us and is a ready teacher - we must ease back the blinders. Biographical note on Denmark's Frater Hölme- The good Brother Holme has graciously consented to help meet the following request from Rufus Camphausen, author of "The Yoni: Sacred Symbol of Female Creative Power", isbn 0892815620 and "The Divine Library: A Comprehensive Reference Guide to the Sacred Texts", isbn 0892813512: "My dear Frater, The Madonna prayer cards next to your black and white renderings and photographs from Joani Blank's Femalia (isbn 0940208156) ["Madonna Code" above] are simply great ... the association does not surprise me - although I've not seen it visualized in that much detail. Personally, I've only made the connection between the vesica pisces shaped "halo" around some 'Mother of God' images and the Yoni. To my knowledge, it has never been visually 'spelled out' quite so convincingly as in the images you have sent ... just lovely! Your drawings make it much more clear than Dan Brown's theory in the Da Vinci Code that the Madonna represents a continuation of the millennia old worship of the Great Goddess - now hidden below many, many layers. I would like your permission to use them in our yoniversum pages. However, in order to avoid an Bible Belt equivalent to the Fatwa against you, do think about a nom de plume for yourself as the discoverer of this esoteric wisdom. Frater Matrix perhaps? I will send the relevant URL to the Vatican once it's ready. --Rufus" So, it seems that Brother Holme resides [or had resided] on a islet in or near the eastern mouth of the Limfjord in the north of Denmark. Evidence indicates that this specific hölm, as typical for such islands (as per Robert Graves), had been [or is] in use as a place of duels, executions, trade with foreigners and residence to sibyls. Exact dating of Brother Holme's birth and death is uncertain. Some commentators believe he (she?) is working at present, others see possible hints dating the written materials to a period during the construction of the Templar churches on the nearby Burgundian island of Bornhölm, between the years 1164 until 1219 during which period the final battles of the Crusades were fought and the Knights Templar made their successful conquest of Estonia. Others believe Frater Holme, or possibly his great grandfather, Christian, served as the steward of the akakia for the court of Zoe I (Ζωή Α') [c. 978 - 1050, ruled 1028 - 1050] – daughter of Constantine VIII or served her coempress and sister, Theodora (Θεοδώρα) [980 - 1056, ruled 1042]. However, Byzantine courtiers were said to be eunuchs and the good Frater has known decendants - curiously, the lovely Empress did go through a good number of lovers and three husbands. (Note: The akakia, pictured here,
was
a purple silk roll containing dust, held during
ceremonies together with
the more obvious symbols - the sceptre and the orb. The akakia symbolized the
mortal nature of all men - and was possibly related in this name and
symbol to the tree, acacia,
from which were built the Hebrew Ark of the Covenant as well as the
thrones of the Byzantine Emperor and Western Popes.) Certainly, the driving motivation to Frater Hölme's writings seems to be inquiry beneath accepted "knowing" - the use of an upraised rotting onion was often cited by those familiar with the good brother's efforts (ref? Buddha's upheld golden lotus blossom in Deer Park). He (she) seems to hold that it was unlikely that "gnosis" comes out of boxes made by human hands - be those boxes made of stone, wood, words, dogma, fraternities or corporations. |
